Cinematheque, ADG team on series

Monthly screenings highlight designers

The American Cinematheque and the Art Directors Guild will co-host a series of monthly screenings highlighting the work of legendary production designers.

This marks the second consecutive year that the two organizations have teamed up to present a production designer-themed screening series.

Sydney Pollack’s 1975 crime drama “The Yakuza” will kick off the season on March 30 at the Egyptian Theatre. Other films in the program include “Blonde Venus,” “The Detective,” “What A Way To Go,” “The Detective,” “Bullitt,” “Point Blank” and “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.”

Moderated discussions with many of the original production designers will follow the films. The screenings will alternate between the Egyptian and Aero Theatres.
