Sony’s Intl. Motion Picture division has tapped Brian Burkin as senior VP of biz affairs and operations.
He will work in Gotham, reporting to prexy Deborah Schindler, who runs the division with Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group vice chair Gareth Wigan. Burkin will negotiate deals and manage relationships with filmmakers around the world.
Burkin has extensive experience navigating Gotham’s film scene, including a nine-year stint at Miramax Films, where he served as senior VP of business affairs, supervising worldwide motion picture production for Dimension. After Miramax, he returned to private practice, where his clients included studios and financiers, including Lionsgate, Universal, Warner Independent, Stone Village and Yari Film Group. He comes to Sony from Pryor Cashman.
