Events include Duran Duran, comedy festival

BritWeek 2008 will kick off April 24, with a packed schedule of Anglophile-friendly events.

Activities will include a David Lean film retrospective hosted by film historian David Thomson at the Egyptian Theater on May 2, a British comedy festival at the Four Seasons, a celebrity soccer match hosted by the Galaxy and a Duran Duran concert at the Nokia Theater.

BritWeek coincides with the 50th anniversary of the British Consul General setting up a residence in Hancock Park. The consul will host a champagne reception to celebrate the first night of the festivities.
