It’s clearly a preem catered to kids when the after-party’s main course is mac and cheese and the cocktails are juice boxes. Add in Miley Cyrus and it’s safe to say Disney’s bow of “Bolt” Monday at the Hollywood Palladium had plenty to please all the moppets.
Unfortunately, Cyrus, the night’s big draw, went home sick after the screening, but pic’s other voice star, John Travolta, was on hand to tubthump the new animated pic, saying he has been holding out for the right toon to come along.
“Tom Hanks and Robin Williams have done great ones,” Travolta said. “When I did one, I wanted to make sure it was going to be a classic.”
Disney exec John Lasseter, who said he was involved with the toon every step of the way, describes the pic as a throwback to old-school Disney.
“You know, Walt Disney always said, ‘For every laugh there should be a tear,’ and ‘Bolt’ is a real testament to that.”
