Berenice Fugard joins StudioCanal

Exec to be acquisitions head

LONDON — StudioCanal has tapped Berenice Fugard as its heads of acquisition.

She will be based out of StudioCanal subsid Optimum Releasing’s London office and be responsible for acquiring films for the U.K. distrib, as well as multi-territory rights for StudioCanal’s operations in France, the U.K. and Germany via Kinowelt.

Fugard will also source projects for StudioCanal’s international sales team.

Fugard will report directly to Optimum chief exec Will Clarke and StudioCanal’s international production and acquisitions exec VP Ron Halpern.

Fugard was most recently veep of acquisitions and co-productions at Paramount Vantage where she worked on projects such as “The Duchess” and “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.”
