HOLLYWOOD — Par went the classy route when it launched “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” with a stunning black-tie preem Monday at the Village Theater.
Asked why the black-tie, topper Brad Grey said: “It’s always good to see Brad Pitt in a tux.”
Also adding to the classiness (and the bygones-be-bygones aspect), pre-screening Grey intro’d DreamWorks’ Steven Spielberg, who thanked Par for letting the preem be a benefit for the Film Foundation.
After-party was in a translucent tent near CAA’s Century City offices. At the bash, producer Kathleen Kennedy spoke of pic’s helmer David Fincher. “This film is a game changer for David,” she said. “He’s going to be thought of differently from here on out.” Producer Frank Marshall described the pic as “a magical fable told in the most unconventional way.” And Par prexy John Lesher said, “you have to wait until all the elements come together perfectly to do a film like this.”
