LONDON — British helmer Beeban Kidron, who directed “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason,” has joined the U.K. Film Council’s board of directors.
The appointment was made Friday by culture minister Margaret Hodge, and will run for four years.
“The U.K. Film Council has an important role in shaping the future of the British film industry, which is in itself an important part of our cultural heritage and export,” Kidron said.
As well as directing numerous film and TV films and docs, Kidron is a tireless mentor to emerging talent. She is co-founder with Lindsay Mackie of Filmclub, a government-funded scheme designed to bring film into schools nationwide
