Series to be shown via Maxdome site

BERLIN — BBC Worldwide has inked a multi-year programming agreement with ProSiebenSat1 for the German broadcaster’s video-on-demand platform Maxdome.

The wide-ranging deal includes series, comedy formats and documentary fare series, including “Doctor Who,” wildlife show “Big Cat Diary” and science docu skein “Horizon.”

The videos are available at as part of a premium package or can be streamed individually.

“Our viewers are highly interested in watching our documentaries at any time, which is possible with Maxdome,” said Isabelle Helle, head of German-speaking territories at BBC Worldwide.

In related news, ProSiebenSat1’s international sales division SevenOne Intl. has sold Uri Geller format “The Successor” to Turkish broadcaster Star TV.

The Turkish adaptation, “Fenomen,” which goes on air April 17, features Geller as the judge and is hosted by famed Turkish director Sinan Cetin.

Versions of “The Successor” have already become hits in Germany, the Netherlands and Hungary, where they air on ProSiebenSat1-owned channels ProSieben, SBS 6 and TV2, respectively. In the U.S., the format airs as “Phenomenon” on NBC.

“The Successor” format originated on Israeli broadcaster Keshet.
