Bankside boards ‘Blessed’

Australian pic stars Frances O’Connor

LONDON — U.K. sales shingle Bankside Films has boarded Oz pic “Blessed,” Ana Kokkinos’ contemporary urban drama about the misadventures of six children over a 48 hour period.

Pic, which examines mother/daughter relationships is based on Oz stage play “Who’s Afraid of the Working Class?”

Ensemble cast includes hot Aussie actresses Frances O’Connor, Miranda Otto and Deborra-lee Furness and Russian Victoria Haralabidou.

Project is a Wildheart Zizani production backed by Screen Australia, Film Victoria, MIFF Premiere Fund, Head Gear Films and Icon Film Distribution.

London-based Bankside has invested in the pic and will handle international sales.
