'Country Teacher,' 'Lost Holiday' to screen

Euro film buffs best Czech themselves at the Brooklyn Academy of Music next month: BAM Cinematek and Czech Center New York will present the ninth annual New Czech Films series from Dec. 3-7. Highlights include “The Country Teacher,” screening on Dec. 3 with helmer Bohdan Slama in person after the show, and Lucie Kralova’s “detective documentary” “Lost Holiday,” about a group of filmmakers who discover a briefcase with 22 rolls of undeveloped photo negatives on a highway in Sweden.

Other Dec. events at BAM include part one of a tribute to Paul Newman, featuring new prints of “The Hustler” and “Slap Shot,” a Dec. 10 preview of “Revolutionary Road” featuring a Q&A with helmer Sam Mendes, and the previously announced Dec. 1 tribute to Penelope Cruz.
