Bracco now VP of alternative series, specials

On the eve of the Academy Awards, ABC has promoted Mark Bracco — who oversees the kudofest for the net — to vice president.

As VP of alternative series and specials, Bracco also handles the CMA Awards, the American Awards, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” and Oprah Winfrey’s series of specials for the net.

On the series side, Bracco handles “Supernanny,” “Oprah’s Big Give” and the upcoming return of “The Mole.”

Exec reports to John Saade and Vicki Dummer, co-heads and senior VPs of alternative series, specials and late night at ABC.

Bracco had previously served as a director in the department since December 2004. Before that, he was an entertainment producer at ABC News’ “Good Morning America.” He also worked as a segment producer at “Access Hollywood.”

“His previous experience as a producer at ‘Good Morning America’ and entertainment journalist at ‘Access Hollywood’ gives him unique insight in developing reality series and specials,” Dummer said. Saade added that Bracco had been “instrumental in the success of our award shows.”
