Amiel and Begler's spec script sells big
In a preemptive deal worth $850,000 against $1.6 million, Touchstone Pictures has sprung big for “Wedding Banned,” a comedy spec script by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler.
A long-divorced couple kidnap their daughter on her wedding day to keep her from making the mistake of her life. The divorced parents rekindle their relationship as they elude cops and the angry groom.
Mandeville’s David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will produce with Nicole Rocklin and Blye Faust. Rocklin and Faust developed the project with the scribes.
Hoberman and Lieberman previously worked with Amiel and Begler on the comedies “Raising Helen” and “The Shaggy Dog.” Separately, the scribes just made a premium blind deal with CBS-Par TV to script a half-hour comedy.
Mandeville has wrapped “Traitor” for Oveture and “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” for Disney. They are shooting “The Surrogates” and “The Proposal” for Touchstone, and they are prepping the Paramount drama “The Fighter.”
