Helen Hunt's debut kicks off festival
Helen Hunt’s directorial debut “Then She Found Me” will open the AFI Dallas fest, which runs March 27-April 6.
Event, now in its second year, will close with “Battle in Seattle,” actor-director Stuart Townsend’s look at the 1999 protest of the World Trade Organization.
AFI Star Awards will be presented to Charlize Theron, Mickey Rooney, Hunt and Todd Wagner. A posthumous tribute will be given to Jack Lemmon before a screening of “Some Like It Hot.”
The fest will screen 210 features and shorts, and Target will sponsor narrative and documentary competitions each with $25,000 in cash prizes.
AFI Dallas also will feature two centerpiece screenings: “Snow Angels” and “What Just Happened,” starring Bruce Willis, Sean Penn and Robert De Niro.
