Europe will launch a rival to Santa Monica’s Locations Trade Show in Seville, Spain, next year.
The Andalusia Film Commission has teamed with the Seville Film Office to organize the Seville Intl. Locations Expo, which will run Nov. 6-10, 2009.
That keeps it well away from the California event, organized by the Assn. of Film Commissioners, which runs April 16-18.
The annual Seville Expo will include a locations expo and a film and TV production services market.
With an initial budget of e2.5 million ($3.9 million), organizers will offer 6,580 sq. ft. for stands and hope to attract some 1,500 professional visitors, including film commissioners, producers and location managers.
“SILE is a logical consequence of the increasing importance of shooting in Europe,” said Andalusia Film Commission prexy Carlos Rosado. “With near 170 film commissions, the European market is already mature enough to house a big expo like this.”
Sharing dates with the Seville European Film Festival, SILE aims to promote synergies between the two events.
“We will stress the role of Seville as a mid-November hub for the international film and TV industry,” said Eduardo Corcuera, Seville Film Office general manager.
