LONDON — Robert Beeson and Pam Engel’s new Brit arthouse distrib New Wave Films has acquired Claire Denis’ Paris-set family drama “35 Shots of Rum” from Gallic sales company Elle Driver at Venice.
Pic played in an out of competition slot in Venice to strong reviews.
Deal was negotiated between Beeson, Engel and Elle Driver’s Adeline Fontan-Tessaur.
Beeson and Engel launched New Wave in February after they ankled from Artificial Eye.
New Wave acquisitions have included the Dardenne brothers’ “The Silence of Lorna,” Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s “Three Monkeys” and Atom Egoyan’s “Adoration.”
