Paramount has launched a centralized tech services org to support the worldwide mastering needs of its business units.
As part of the move, the studio has tapped Chris Carey for a newly created role as exec VP of worldwide technical operations.
Carey will lead the group, which will oversee post-production facilities on the Melrose lot, Par’s technical services globally and the studio’s archival, preservation and restoration programs.
“Bringing all of these activities under one team will allow us to operate more efficiently, plan more strategically and set a course for the future of Paramount’s technical operations,” said Paramount Studio Group prexy Randall Baumberger.
Carey joins Par from Technicolor, where he was most recently chief marketing and technology officer. Before Technicolor, he served in several senior-level positions at the Walt Disney Co., where he led the studio’s technology organization, worldwide post-production and operations and worldwide technical services.
