Film unit picks up San Sebastian winner
BERLIN — Outsider Pictures has picked up U.S. rights to Daniel Burman’s San Sebastian award winner “Empty Nest.”
The Argentine drama centers around a married couple forced to come to terms with themselves and a new life after their children move out.
“Empty Nest” won the acting prize for Oscar Martinez and the cinematography nod for Hugo Colace in San Sebastian last month. Pic also unspooled in Toronto.
The film is the latest in Outsider’s growing slate of foreign arthouse titles, which also include recent pickups such as Anders Thomas Jensen’s Danish drama “Adam’s Apple” and Giuseppe Tornatore’s Italian thriller “La sconosciuta” (The Other Woman).
