Barry Levinson has directed a doc about the just-completed Democratic and Republican national conventions that will be released by indie distrib Screen Media Films.
“Polliwood” features interviews with a host of showbiz names including Anne Hathaway, David Crosby, Alan Cumming and Susan Sarandon, plus several political notables. It is produced by Creative Coalition exec director Robin Bronk, actor and Creative Coalition co-prexy Tim Daly and Screen Media topper Robert Baruc.
The doc blends footage from the floor of both conventions with separate sit-down interviews to provide a snapshot of the landmark 2008 presidential race.
Post-production work is continuing on the film, and no theatrical plan has been set. Screen Media, which has released titles including surf doc “Bustin’ Down the Door” and the straight-to-video “Noel,” aims to roll out “Polliwood” on the festival circuit in 2009.
