Brisseau film expected to be completed in fall
IFC Films has pre-bought U.S. rights to the upcoming erotic drama “A l’Aventure,” which is expected to be completed in time to hit the fall fest circuit.
Written and directed by Jean-Claude Brisseau (“Secret Things”), the film stars Carole Brana as a young woman who is not sexually satisfied by her boyfriend (Arnaud Binard) and pursues various sexual experiments including hypnosis. The film is produced by Francois Yon and Nicolas Brigaud-Robert of Films Distribution.
IFC Entertainment prexy Jonathan Sehring, who also acquired “The Exterminating Angels” for IFC’s First Take out of Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes in 2006, praised Brisseau’s “fearless exploration of female sexuality.” IFC has already picked up “A Christmas Tale,” “Summer Hours” “The Pleasure of Being Robbed” and “Mermaid” out of Cannes this year. Last year the fest acquired 10 pics including “4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days.”
Brisseau had a career retrospective at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in 2004.
