Entertainment takes U.K. distribution
LONDON — HandMade Films has pre-sold U.K. distribution rights for its feature “Eloise in Paris” starring Uma Thurman to Entertainment Films.
“Eloise in Paris” is a bigscreen adaptation of the popular 1950s children’s novel series written by Kay Thompson and illustrated by Hilary Knight. Pic is directed by Charles Shyer and stars Thurman as nanny to precocious 6-year-old adventurer Eloise played by Aussie newcomer Jordana Beatty.
Deal, which was announced in Cannes by HandMade, was negotiated between HandMade Film Intl. chairman Guy Collins and Entertainment’s Nigel Green.
“Licensing the first of the major worldwide territories on the film to Entertainment sets the bar at a very high level,” commented Collins, adding “we are delighted to continue our relationship with Entertainment on this film which forms the cornerstone of HandMade’s business,”
Shyer co-wrote the script with his daughter Hallie Meyers-Shyer, and Larry Spencer.
