Reckless invests in socially conscious projects
Adrian Grenier’s Reckless Prods. has teamed with financier John Loar to develop film projects that the “Entourage” star will produce and direct.
Under the pact, Loar will finance two documentaries: “Where Are Who Now,” which traces the musical odyssey of the Los Angeles band the Good Listeners as they set out to record their third album; and “The Untitled Media Culture Documentary,” which examines the relationship between celebrity and society. Both are described by Grenier as socially conscious projects.
Grenier will produce “Where Are Who Now” and produce and co-direct the paparazzi-themed film, for which he has been spotted around Hollywood shooting footage.
Loar is a partner along with Tom Halbach in Danville, Calif.-based J. Loar investment group. He also co-founded the production company Red Bird Cinema with Kevin Pollak and St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa. The company has four films in development, including a Sugar Ray Leonard biopic.
“John Loar and I share the same values,” Grenier said. “It’s exciting to work with someone who wants to put his financial muscle towards creative and socially conscious projects.”
Added Loar: “We’re matching private equity funds up with expertise, production experience and celebrity. When there is social good, as is the case on these two projects, then it’s icing on the cake.”
Grenier formed Reckless Prods. last year with a mandate for making films and documentaries for the social good.
