June 18, opening night
World premiere of John Maybury’s “The Edge of Love.”

June 19
Buzz indie band British Sea Power screens and discusses its videos deep underground in the Edinburgh Caves, before performing new material.

June 20
World premiere of “Spike” in the Under the Radar sidebar, a horror fairy tale from U.S. director Robert Beaucage, whom McGill had never heard of before he wowed her with an unsolicited DVD.

June 21
World premieres of “Warsaw Dark,” only the second movie directed by the great Aussie cinematographer Chris Doyle; and “Stone of Destiny,” the true story of how four students stole Scotland’s ancient coronation stone back from the English, sure to please the local crowd. Plus, U.S. documaker Errol Morris in town to present “Standard Operating Procedure.”

Trailblazing Shorts: the top work from students at the U.K.’s seven Screen Academies, who will be at EIFF for industry networking.

June 24
Performed reading of screenplay “Poor Things” by the National Theater of Scotland, adapted from his own novel by cult Scottish writer Alasdair Gray.

June 25
Ray Harryhausen, the legendary stop-motion animator of “Jason and the Argonauts” (screened June 24), explains his craft.

June 26
World premiere of Irish comedy “A Film With Me in It” by Ian Fitzgibbon, starring Dylan Moran.

June 27
U.K. premieres of “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day” starring Amy Adams and Frances McDormand, and Brad Anderson’s “Transsiberian.”

June 28
U.K. premiere of Pixar’s “Wall-E,” followed by closing-night world premiere of “Faintheart,” the first MySpace movie.
