Exhibition exec Robert E. Capps, Jr. died Nov. 6 in Los Angeles after a brief illness.
Capps had served as VP of acquisitions and exhibition for Century Theaters and was previously exec. VP-film for United Artists Theaters.
Prior to UA, he was senior VP and general sales manager for Tri-Star Pictures, and was instrumental in the development of new film marketing technology strategies, primarily in the domestic theatrical market. He was directly involved in the building and expansion of distribution departments for companies such as Columbia Pictures, Paramount Pictures, and MGM.
Capps’ father, Bob Capps Sr., was also an exhibition exec, while his sisters ran an independent distribution company in Jacksonville, Fla.
He is survived by two children and two sisters.
