Double bill kicks off Asiana

Shorts festival runs Nov. 5 - 11

SEOUL — “Seven Superheroes vs. Monster F,” by Korean helmer Park Jay, and a French short, “Manon on the Asphalt,” by helmers Elizabeth Marre and Olivier Pont, will open the sixth Asiana Short Film Festival, running Nov. 5-11 in Seoul.

Bankrolled by Asiana Airlines and curated by Ahn Sung-ki, fest will screen 52 shorts from 30 countries in the competition section. These were selected from more than 1,700 submissions.

Winners will be picked by a jury headed by Japanese director Oguri Kohei with Film Comment critic Kent Jones and Korean director Yun Jong-chan and Korean actress Kim Hye-su.

Fest will also screen the early short film work of helmers including Ridley Scott, Wong Kar Wai and Andrei Tarkovsky.
