Lucas, Spielberg pic may premiere at film fest
Parlez-vous Francais, Indiana Jones?
The long-awaited fourth installment of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg’s period action-adventure pic will debut at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, May 18.
That’s four days before “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” opens day-and-date worldwide May 22.
The cast, which includes Harrison Ford, Shia LaBeouf and Cate Blanchett, have already been notified to pack their black-tie outfits for the French Riviera’s red carpet unspooling even though the fest has yet to confirm its official lineup. That won’t happen until April.
Still, Paramount insiders are confident that as soon as fest programmers see the final print, the deal will be sealed for the studio to launch the summer tentpole on the granddaddy of all world stages. Director Spielberg, who is still editing and scoring the film, has not shown “Indy 4” to anyone yet. The studio declined comment.
The last time Spielberg graced the Palais was for 1982’s “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.”
