World Film Festival Montreal honorees

The Oscar-winning producer will not only be awarded on opening night, he’s also getting a four-film retro including a special screening of “Young Frankenstein” Aug. 22, followed by a Q&A with the producer. Other Ladd films skedded to unspool are “The Right Stuff,” “Chariots of Fire” and “Blade Runner.”

“Sweet Smell of Success,” “The Defiant Ones” and “Some Like It Hot” are defining moments in this Brooklyn-born star’s career, which spans seven decades. He’s also created a successful second career as a painter and has been awarded the French Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
