New Line duo sign deal with WB
Former New Line toppers Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne have dubbed their new shingle Unique Features.
The duo officially announced the moniker Thursday along with plans to produce two to three projects annually and operate with offices in Los Angeles and New York.
Shaye and Lynne signed a three-year first-look deal with Warner Bros. last month, four months after the studio announced massive staff cuts at New Line (Daily Variety, June 17).
Shaye founded New Line in 1967 in his New York apartment. Shaye and Lynne departed New Line as part of Warner’s decision to cut costs by refocusing the mini-major on horror, comedy and urban genre pics with an occasional tentpole project such as “The Hobbit.”
