Paramount Pictures has tapped Patricia Shin Rockenwagner exec VP of corporate communications.
The post had been vacant since Janet Hill exited the studio last summer.
On Monday, Rockenwagner will take over day-to-day corporate PR duties for the studio — a job considered one of the busiest in showbiz given Par’s penchant for garnering headlines. Gotham-based publicist Steven Rubenstein had been filling in on a temporary basis and will continue to work with the studio as a consultant.
Rockenwagner, who joins Paramount from a stint as Time Warner Cable VP of communications for the Southern California region, will oversee all external and internal communications for the studio, including media relations and employee communications. She will report to Par chairman-CEO Brad Grey. Grey said, “She possesses both an in-depth understanding of the media industry and the energy and skills to ensure that the Paramount brand is consistently projected effectively both internally and to key constituencies in the U.S. and to every territory where we do business.”
Before joining Time Warner in 2006, Rockenwagner worked as a communications exec at Comcast of Southern California. She was also active in the political arena in the 1990s, working as chief of staff and campaign manager for California state Senator Tom Hayden from 1994-97 and legislative director in the office of California state Senator Art Torres from 1992-94.
