Fest will preem 'Tropic Thunder' in Spain
MADRID — Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr. will present the action comedy “Tropic Thunder” at the 56th San Sebastian Film Festival, which runs Sept. 18-28.
“Thunder” will play out of competition as part of fest’s Official Selection.
Helmed by Stiller and toplined by himself, Downey Jr. and Jack Black, “Thunder” narrates the adventures of a group of self-absorbed actors who set out to make the most expensive war film ever.
Pic had a controversial debut Stateside on Aug. 13, because of the inclusion of jokes related to the skin color Downey Jr.’s character and the use of the word “retard” to refer to people with disabilities.
The official release of “Tropic Thunder” in Spanish theatres is skedded for Sept. 26, handled by Paramount Pictures Spain.
