Actress, 'Vicky Christina Barcelona'

Daughter of stage director Peter Hall and opera singer Maria Ewing, U.K.-born Hall was perhaps unavoidably drawn to the theater while studying English at Cambridge U. Roles in several of her father’s productions led to a small part in Christopher Nolan’s “The Prestige.” Little known in the U.S., Hall opened many moviegoers’ eyes by holding her own against the likes of Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson in Woody Allen’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” before moving on to Ron Howard’s “Frost/Nixon.”
