MPEG fetes Thomas C. Short

Former IATSE topper to recieve service award

The Motion Picture Editors Guild has tapped Thomas C. Short, who recently retired as president of the Intl. Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, as the recipient of its Fellowship and Service Award.

The kudo will be presented at the MPEG annual board of directors installation dinner on Jan. 10 at Loews in Santa Monica. MPEG has over 6,000 members and operates as Local 700 of IATSE.

“Tom Short has dedicated his career to the labor movement with integrity and exemplary leadership,” said MPEG president Lisa Churgin. “He serves as a positive example to everyone in the entertainment industry and beyond.”

Short has been a member of IATSE since 1968. He became president of the below-the-line union in 1994 and retired in July.
