Leslie Moonves and Rita Wilson will be honored March 9 at the Geffen Playhouse’s annual Backstage at the Geffen gala that recognizes leadership in the theater community.
Producer Mark Burnett and actress Roma Downey will chair the event at the Geffen Playhouse. Benefit will raise funds for the Geffen Playhouse education programs.
CBS prexy-chief exec Moonves, a founding board member of the Geffen Playhouse, will receive the Distinction in Service Award for positioning CBS Corp. as a proponent of the performing arts.
Wilson, who appeared on the Geffen stage in “Collected Stories” in 2000, is being honored for her theatrical efforts with Shakespeare Festival/L.A. and the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, among others.
Backstage at the Geffen includes a virtual backstage tour, with performers telling behind-the-scenes stories and sharing intimate performances. This year’s presenters and performers will be announced shortly.
