Documentary enters foreign language race
BEIJING — China will enter helmer Gun Yu’s Olympic documentary “Dream Weavers — Beijing 2008” for consideration in the foreign language category of the Oscars, the first time China has put a documentary in for the category.
Pic tells the story of various Olympic hopefuls in the run-up to the Games in August, the Film Bureau said.
The Academy has invited 96 countries to submit films for foreign-language Oscar consideration. Deadline for submission is Oct. 1, the nominations will be announced Jan. 22, and the 81st awards ceremony takes place on Feb. 22.
