CBS leads business Emmys nominees

CNBC second in nomination tally

CBS News led the field of nominees for the sixth annual Emmy Awards for business and financial reporting with 12 nods.

CBS’ tally included multiple nominations for “The CBS Evening News With Katie Couric,” “CBS News Sunday Morning” and “60 Minutes.”

CNBC was second to CBS in the nomination tally with six, followed by ABC and PBS with four apiece and Bloomberg with three.

In the category of coverage of a business news story in a regularly skedded newscast, “ABC World News With Charles Gibson” picked up two nominations while “CBS News Sunday Morning” and “The CBS Evening News With Katie Couric” each nabbed one mention.

Contenders in the category of investigative reporting of a business news story in a regularly skedded newscast are ABC’s “Nightline,” “Bloomberg Evening Edition,” “CBS Evening News: Weekend Edition,” “NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams” and a joint report by “NBC Nightly News” and “Today.”

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ business reporting kudos cover reports that aired between July 1, 2007, and June 30.

This year’s lifetime achievement honor will go to David Schlesinger, editor in chief of Reuters News at Thomson Reuters.

The biz Emmys will be handed out Dec. 2 at Gotham’s Rainbow Room.
