Politics and print came early to the editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post, thanks to a journo dad and movies imported from Hollywood. ” ‘Mr. Smith Goes to Washington’ left quite an impression on me as a young girl growing up in Greece — both for its message that an impassioned individual can make a difference, and for its ultimately optimistic depiction of America,” says Arianna Huffington. “I loved how it offered up both a cynical and an idealistic view of government.”

Regarding current movie fare, the blogger queen found much to admire in the doc “War, Inc.”

“John Cusack has pulled off the near-impossible –finding a savage, reality-altering humor amidst the tragedy of Iraq,” says Huffington. “It the rare films that makes you laugh, wince and become outraged all at the same time.”
