PorchLight on for Sparky/Grimply piic

Companies team up for CGI 'Brothers'

HONG KONG — Singapore’s Sparky Animation has pacted with Santa Monica-based PorchLight Entertainment and Scotland’s Grimply Films to co-produce $22 million, CGI movie “The Grimpley Brothers.”

Aimed at families, comedy features two brothers whose emotional journey spans brotherly love and sibling rivalry. It is scripted by Philip Lazebnik (“Prince of Egypt,” “Mulan,” “Pocahontas”) with Tom Ruegger (“Animalia,” “Pinky and the Brain”) writing the final draft.

Also on board are animation veteran Scott Jeralds (“Jetsons: The Movie,” “Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders”) and PorchLight prexy-CEO Bruce Johnson.

With the story fully developed and story-boarded, sked is to deliver two minutes of completed movie by December to give distributors a demonstration of design and style.

Full animation is planned to start in early 2009 at Sparky’s studios in Singapore and Beijing. Pre- and post-production will be handled by PorchLight.
