Fortissimo picks up ‘Mishima’

Film unit aims for global re-release

Hong Kong- and Amsterdam-based Fortissimo Films has picked up international rights to Paul Schrader’s 1985 classic “Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters,” with the aim of giving the investigative portrait a global re-release.

Produced by American Zoetrope, pic is a tribute to Japanese playwright Yukio Mishima who attempted an impossible harmony between self, art and society and committed ritual suicide in public.

“We are excited at the prospect of the film being discovered for the first time by a new audience and re-discovered by those who saw it and loved it on its original release,” said producer Tom Luddy. Fortissimo has rights outside North America and Japan.
