TOKYO — Japan’s Toei Animation started offering its toons on San Francisco-based online media distrib Crunchyroll on Monday.
Content includes “Digimon Adventure 02,” “Fist of the North Star,” “Pretty Cure” and “Slam Dunk” with streaming, subscription and download-to-own options. Fans will be able to access new episodes weekly.
Launched in 2006, Crunchyroll operates a sharing site based on the YouTube model that specializes in anime and other Asian video content. The site has drawn fire for its copyright infringing toons, but is striving to go legit, as its deal with Toei indicates.
