Online marketing co. partners on website

PV Media Group, an online marketing company headed by former Universal TV exec Steve Rosenberg, has launched the news aggregator website BreakingNews.com in partnership with the wire service Breaking News Network Inc.

Site aims to trade on the high visibility of its domain name as it serves up a wide-ranging mix of headlines, blog posts, video and news of the weird.

James McDonald, PV Media’s veep of corporate sales and development and a former newspaper journo, has been named prexy and CEO of the joint venture. John Wilpers, a journo and online media consultant, has been tapped as editor of BreakingNews.com.

In addition to pulling headlines from an array of established media, the site aims to build up a network of contributors. It’s already got a partnership deal in place with Northwestern U.’s Medill School of Journalism, whose students will provide video and audio podcast content for the site.

In announcing the launch, Gotham-based PV Media touted its search optimization technology that will allow it to funnel news-seeking Web surfers on to BreakingNews.com. PV Media also promises to distrib BreakingNews.com banner ads on other news-centric sites.

The BreakingNews.com moniker alone “holds tremendous value for advertisers seeking prime online real estate with guaranteed traffic,” Rosenberg said.
