Designer Wright, who got his start in robotics, is best known for creating the hugely popular player-as-God “Sim” series. “Will and I have a nice complementary set of skills in terms of his vision and my ability to execute and (make) the most of some of his crazy ideas,” Bradshaw says.

Wright’s latest crazy idea? “Spore,” a four-years-in-the-making, highly interactive, design-your-own-universe game that’s one of the most anticipated fall releases. “Spore” is revolutionary, Wright feels, not just for its epic perspective on “the history and future of life as we know it,” but because it relies so much on players’ creativity to populate its universe.

Fans responded in droves, uploading one million new life forms through a free trial version of the “Spore Creature Creator” in just one week.
