Initiative will feature concerts, seminars, more

New York City is taking time out to celebrate the world wide web: June 3-10 is now designated “Internet Week,” as proclaimed by the office of Mayor Bloomberg in partnership with the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

The initiative will feature events ranging from concerts to ad seminars and will culminate in the 12th annual Webby awards, which will be held at the Wall St. Cipriani, complete with five-word-long acceptance speeches.

PaidContent, Flavorpill, and the Onion will hold events in conjunction.

Billboard.com will host a “new music showcase” concert, and Federated Media will hold the first East Coast edition of its Conversational Marketing Summit at the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park.

The schedule of events will be announced in April.
