‘Gormiti’ runs Marathon to Cannes

Animated series to bow at TV mart

PARIS — French production and distribution shingle Marathon Group is launching animated series “Gormiti, the Lords of Nature Return” at the Mipcom Junior TV mart, set to take place in Cannes Oct.11 and 12.

The  26-minute show follows the adventures of four kids who travel to a fantasy world, Gorm Island, where they gain superpowers to fight dangerous creatures called Gormiti.

Series is based on the popular European toy Gormiti, created by Leandro Consumi, group brand manufacturer for Italy’s Giochi Preziosi, the world’s fourth largest toymaker and distrib, which has sold some 100 million of the action figures.

” ‘Gormiti’ blends magic, epic action stories, legendary creatures and comedy,” said Marathon Media CEO Vincent Chalvon-Demersay. “With the extraordinary success of the property in stores, this series is bound to be a global phenomenon for millions of kids already in love with the Gormiti.”

Co-produced by Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s Mediaset broadcast group and French TV network M6, the 52-episode skein will kick off this fall in Italy on a Mediaset channel.

Marathon Intl. handles worldwide TV and video sales while  Preziosi handles international merchandising.
