Fox Sports Net and the World Poker Tour will team up to launch a viral-based poker and blackjack series.
“ClubWPT.com” will feature six amateur players from the U.S. and Canada who have won a spot on the show through designated “TVtournaments” on ClubWPT.com. The viral tourneys run at 7 six nights a week. Steve Lipscomb, prexy and CEO of WPT, credits poker as “the only sport that allows the everyday Joe to go up against the professionals and win life-changing money and celebrity status.” ClubWPT.com creates that opportunity six nights a week, he added. Commentary for the series will be provided by FSN sportscaster Barry Tompkins, “Live at the Bike” announcer Bart Hansen and Alison Waite. The series will debut in its regular timeslot at 4 p.m. Sunday with an 11 p.m. encore.
