EuropaCorp partners for animated fare

Co. teams with French comicbook publisher

PARIS — Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp is partnering with Editions Glenat, a French comicbook publisher, to launch distribution and production shingle Europa-Glenat.

EuropaCorp and Glenat share TV and film adaptation rights to Glenat’s property in a 50/50 split. Eleanore de Prunele, acquisitions topper at EuropaCorp, will head the Paris-based shingle.

Glenat’s catalog includes comicbooks, manga, graphic novels and magazines. The group also owns comicbook publishers Vent d’Ouest and Zenda.

Supported by public funding, animated films have become Gaul’s prime entertainment export.
