Dale Hopkins, former chief operating officer at vidgame cabler G4, is returning to the games biz, joining Championship Gaming Series as CEO.
Appointment comes as Andy Reif is leaving CGS after two years as the league’s chief exec to pursue other interests.
It also comes shortly after CGS inked a broadcasting deal with G4 to air the league’s vidgaming competitions. The four 90-minute specials began airing in July.
Hopkins will oversee the global development of the league, which has been looking to increase its presence in the U.S., especially on television. Company’s competitions, which pit vidgamers from various teams around the world against one another, has a larger fanbase overseas, where its TV partners include DirecTV, DirecTV Latin America, BSkyB, Star and ESPN-Star Sports.
Hopkins helped launch CNBC, E! Entertainment Television, the Style Network and G4 and co-founded E! Online and iWin.com. She most recently co-founded multimedia marketing shop Partner Machine.
