Countries ally for pan-European Internet service
A German-Hungarian deal inked on the eve of the Berlinale will develop a pan-European Internet-based video-on-demand service.
Berlin’s A Company Consulting & Licensing and Hungarian independent distributor Budapest Film Tuesday signed a letter of intent to set up pan-European VOD platform Filmklik Europe.
Under the deal, A Company Consulting will acquire shares in existing VOD operator Filmklik Hungary, which has been offering an online service since June.
Initial focus in developing a wider service will be on central and eastern territories, including Bulgaria, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia and the Baltics, the two companies said in a statement.
Working via local partners, Filmklik Europe will offer customers product via the EEAP Eastern European Acquisition Pool, an associate of A Company Consulting. Library films from American and European sources, special interest programs and other content will also be available.
