Since joining EA in 2001, music and marketing exec Schnur has been ahead of the curve, radically transforming the industry’s perception of videogames from simple licensing opportunities to a series of groundbreaking partnerships with Def Jam, the NBA and others.

As the former MTV exec notes, “Young people’s love of music will always be there, but the way they discover music has changed dramatically.” While CD sales are down, new media such as videogames and the Internet are thriving.

“We’ve found bands way before anyone heard of them, such as Fallout Boy and Franz Ferdinand, and introduced them to the world,” he says.

Now Schnur has made the logical next step, forming Artwerk Music Group, a joint venture with Nettwerk Music, “so we can sign artists directly.”
