Deal includes homevideo, TV rights to 'Informers'
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group has acquired domestic homevid and TV distrib rights to the release slate of Senator U.S. beginning with Bret Easton Ellis’ “The Informers.”
Multipic deal was announced by acquisitions group prexy Steven Bersch and Senator U.S. prexy Marco Weber.
Senator’s new theatrical arm, headed by Mark Urman, releases “The Informers” in theaters in the first quarter of 2009. Billy Bob Thornton, Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke star.
The other three Senator U.S. productions covered under the pact are suspense thriller “Unthinkable,” which is in post-production; supernatural thriller “Clock Tower,” which begins lensing in Los Angeles in early December; and family drama “Fireflies in the Garden,” toplining Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe and Emily Watson.
The Sony Worldwide-Senator U.S. arrangement also covers a number of Senator acquisitions including Adrien Brody-Sarah Polley sci-fi horror title “Splice” and French gangster epic “Public Enemy No. 1.”
