Shows being redubbed into French
TOKYO — Toei Animation has licensed the DVD rights to 143 segs of its signature “One Piece” series to Kana Home Video.
Kana will distrib in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and various French-speaking territories. Toei Animation is re-dubbing the series into French as part of the deal.
The “One Piece” skeins, starring a boy on a quest to become King of the Pirates and discover a hidden treasure called One Piece, launched in 1999 and has since racked up more than 340 episodes. It airs in 13 countries.
Kana Home Video is a subsid of the Dargaud-Lombard media group. Founded in 1956, Toei Animation is Japan’s oldest toon house, with 189 TV series and 172 features in its catalog as of March 2007.
