Actor promotes 'Kung Fu' at Cannes
Ushered to a stage by 40 fat pandas, Jack Black was in fighting form as he promoted DreamWorks Animation’s “Kung Fu Panda” to a gaggle of press on the Carlton beach.
“And now I will teach you kung fu. I’m going to do an incredible kick so you might wanna get this,” he said, as he rolled around and posed for every camera angle. When co-directors Mark Osborne and John Stevenson were brought up, Black fought them in slow motion while the overheated performers in heavy animal outfits danced around him.
“Panda” co-writers/co-producers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger were subjected to a Van Damme-style double kick, though it only reached their shins. Producer Melissa Cob fought alongside the star, who grew winded fairly quickly: “I’m already sweating. Can I get a cold beverage and a fan?”
Black pondered what he most enjoyed about Cannes. “The food and the sun. Last night I had foie gras lollipops. I was thinking about playing some poker later. How do you say ‘raise’ in French?”
